Effective

This site is run by Branden Williams d/b/a UpdateCheckup. Questions or requests go to hello@updatecheckup.com, and I reply personally.

Short version: I collect only what you type into a form and use it only for what that form says. I don’t sell or share it, and I’ll delete it whenever you ask.

What I collect, and why

Launch list

When you join the launch list, I store your email address and the page you signed up on. If the link you followed carried campaign tags, such as which community post sent you, I store those too. Your address is used for one email, sent when the free checkup is live, and you can ask to be removed at any time.

Done-for-you upgrade requests

When you request a PHP upgrade, I store your email, your site address, the PHP version and host you tell me, and your notes. I use them to reply, to quote the job, and to do the work if you go ahead. I don’t visit or scan your site until you ask me to.

I don’t store your IP address with either form.

Services that help run this site

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and stores form submissions (Workers and D1). Like any web host, it processes your IP address to deliver pages. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that form submissions come from a person, using signals from your browser; Cloudflare states it doesn’t use that data to target ads.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking.
  • PostHog records page views and clicks so I can see which pages are useful. It runs without cookies or browser storage, so it can’t recognize you on a later visit. Session recording is off.
  • Resend delivers the emails this site sends, and Cloudflare Email Routing forwards mail sent to hello@updatecheckup.com.

There are no advertising pixels on this site, and I don’t sell or share your personal information.

Your browser

If you close the PHP2Shell notice at the top of the page, your browser remembers that choice in its own local storage. It never leaves your device.

How long I keep it

  • Launch list: until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it.
  • Upgrade requests: while we’re talking and while the job is active, then as long as I need records of paid work. Ask and I’ll delete anything I’m not required to keep.

Your choices

Email hello@updatecheckup.com to see, correct, or delete what I have about you. I’ll act on it within 30 days. These rights apply wherever you live, including under California and EU privacy laws.

When the free checkup launches

The checkup will store scan results for sites you check. Before it collects anything new, this notice will be updated to say what it stores and for how long.
